Born To Be Wild 2011
- Are you looking for a great summer activity and you are not scared of a new challenge?
- Are you between 18 and 30 years and want to meet interesting young people from around Europe?
- Do you sometimes find life in the city too overwhelming?
- Would you like to try living outside? In the nature?
- As simple as possible?
- Wildly?
- Differently?
You don't have to search any further for your summer activity! Here you willll find the mind-blowing camp you are looking for.
We invite you to: Born To Be Wild 2011: arrival 18th of July - departure 27th of July.
Born To Be Wild 2011 you say?
Yes! It is about...
8 days of living intensively in the wild: a lot of cool activities in nature: survival techniques, first aid, sleeping in tents in the meadow, cooking your own meals...
8 days of reflecting on your lifestyle: How eco/green are you? How connected to nature are you? Waste reduction. Decrease your environmental impact and learn how you can start having a more sustainable lifestyle.
8 days of living in tents together with 25 young people from Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Portugal and Hungary! Moreover you are invited to the unique Lemkos minority festival!
8 days of having lots and lots fun: you are invited to bring your enthusiasm, play games, share your experiences and learn from those of others!
To summarize: we will spend eight days in nature, trying to live more simply and reflect how we could change the way we live in the city.
There will also be plenty of time for calm thinking about how we live, if our lifestyle is ecological and if there is a way how to connect these 8 days spent in nature with everyday life.
And we won't forget to play, sing(unless you really don't want to), move, jump, be creative and have lots of fun.
Whom is it for?
The activity is designed for young naturefriends from the IYNF network, who are ready to discover nature together, and are open to new adventures and learning by exploring and experiencing.
If you are between 18 and 30, coming from either Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Portugal, and Hungary, able to communicate in English and willing to go through this green adventure with us, Born To Be Wild is being organised for you.
Where is it taking place?
Born To Be Wild will have its base camp in a beautiful countryside of Southern Poland, near Krakow. The camp base of our Polish member organisation is called Radocyna Base Camp. Away from civilization, in the middle of meadows, fields and forests. We will stay at a camp site, so be ready for rather natural conditions. No electricity and running water! Sleeping in tents! Be ready to be wild!
Want to come?
Please apply through the application form, or see the form below.
When applying, please pay attention to the questions, which are focused on your motivation to come to the project. They will serve as one of the factors according to which the team will be deciding upon the selection of the participants. These questions and answers will help the team to select/choose the participant
The registration deadline is Tuesday 21st of June and the selection of participants will be ready by Friday 24th June. All applicants will be informed about the outcomes(accepted/rejected/waiting list) by email to the address you provide in the application form (please make sure it is a correct one). Accepted applicants will receive an admission sheet with instructions for further action. In case you did not receive any email from us in the expected time, please contact us by email or phone.
What do we cover?
IYNF will provide travel reimbursement to all participants covering 70 % of total travel costs. The maximum reimbursed costs (70%) are:
- 290 EUR for travels over 1000 km,
- 250 EUR for travels not exceeding 1000 km,
- 120 EUR for travels not exceeding 500 km and
- 50 EUR for travels less than 300 km.
Please note that IYNF wants you to choose the most ecological travel means. To stimulate this we give the highest discount if you travel by bus and a lower discount if you travel by train. In case you need to take a plane you have to consult us to get permission for it. You can read more about this in our travel regulation:
http://www.iynf.org/obsah/materials/documents.php?id_document=26
In case you are flying a CO2 compensation is obligatory, more information about that can be found in the practical infosheet.
Besides that food, accommodation and all material needed during the activity are included.
What is your contribution?
You are expected to cover 30% of your travel costs and pay the participation fee (according to the chart in the call that can be downloaded). Fees are between 22 and 63 euro, a very affordable price, and ask for a small contribution to our costs in the form of a participation fee.
IYNF follows a policy of fair prices, dividing Europe into regions according to the different income levels. You pay the fee according to your country of residence. In addition, Students and Naturefriends (members of IYNF member or partner organisation) have a combinable discount and there is a special reduction rate for Registered IYNF Volunteers.
For being a student and / or a member of IYNF we would need a proof by sending a copy of your student or membership card by fax, post or a scan per mail. If you would like to know if you are a registered IYNF volunteer or not, please send an email to iynf@iynf.org.
Besides contributions mentioned above, we expect you to come with interest, passion and open mind towards exploration of how things are when you are Born To Be Wild!
And if you would like to come but cannot pay the fee?
We do not want money to be an obstacle for anyone to participate to our activities; on the other hand we want committed and motivated participants, who value the opportunity. Therefore, we employ the principle pay what you can, and a little bit more. So do contact us if money is an issue, but you do want to come.
If you have any question about the project or the application, do not hesitate to contact BTBW Project Coordinator Bert Aelter at aelterbert [@] hotmail.com in English, French, German, Spanish or Dutch.
We are looking forward to your registration and to spending 8 days in the Polish nature with you!
